Overview
This project is intended for Secondary 1 Science students to study about digestive disorders and diet-related dieseases by using information available on the Internet to create a wiki page containing the following:
- The meaning /definition of the disorder or disease
- The causes and effects of the disorder or disease
- The signs and symptoms of the disorder or disease
- The prevention (if any) and treatment of the disorder or disease
- How the disorder or disease is linked to other illnesses or diseases
- References for information on wiki page
Objectives
At the end of this project, students will be able to:
- Explain the disorder or disease
- Identify the causes and effects, signs and symptoms, prevention and treatment of the disorder or disease
- Explain the link between this disorder or disease with other illnesses or diseases
- Show empathy for patients having these disorders or diseases
Teams
Students will be working in groups of 4 - 5. Below are the groupings, as well as links to their group pages.

Individual Reflection
Choose any two diseases or conditions that you have interest in and read the information that your friends have put up on their wiki pages.
After reading the two wiki pages, write your reflection using the template provided.
Click on the link to download the Reflection Worksheet for this activity if you have not gotten your reflection worksheet from your teacher ( Health Wiki Reflection.doc ).
Submit your reflection to your Science teacher together with your project log by Term 3 Week 3 .
Timeline
- Project Briefing: Term 2 Week 9/10
- Orientation of mechanics of wiki page
- Preliminary research on allocated disorder or disease
- Review of other wiki pages: Term 3 Week 3
- Reading 2 wiki pages by other groups with different disorder or disease
- Complete Wiki Reflection worksheet and submit with project log form latest by 18 July 2014, Friday.
