a condition in which there is a lack of red cells or of haemoglobin ( an iron containing composed of globin and heme that gives red blood cells their characteristic color; function primarily to transport oxygen from the lungs to the body tissues ) in the blood, resulting in an unhealthy pale appearance and extreme tiredness .
