Meaning / Definition

Daily products such as milks, cheese, yougurt and so forth contains a sugar/carbohydrate called lactose.Normally, with the help of enzyme lactase, the body is able to break down lactose to smaller components. Most mammals are able to stop producing lactase when they are weaned;humans, hower continues to produce it throughout life. The truth is without enough lactase,a person can have problems in the digestive system such as abdominal pain and diarrhoea. This is also known as lactose intolerence.

2)Gastroenteritis-This can cause the intestines to be lack of lactase for a few weeks.

3)Parasitic infection-this can temporarily reduce lactase for a few weeks.

4)Iron deficiency-lack of iron in someone's diet can interfere with lactose digestion and absorption.

Some people who have lactose intolerance cannot digest any milk products as a result of the effect.

Good job in putting some info, but some sections are incomplete.

Some suggestions:
1. You need to put the websites where you get your information from under "References".
2. More details required for "Link to other diseases".
3. You may want to include pictures to illustrate your points better.
4. More details required for "Prevention"
5. Some portions are copy and paste. Please edit!
