Overview

  • The location of the Movile Cave is at Romania. In Romania, it is a few kilometers from the Black sea coast
  • The Movile cave is very small and fragile and it needs our protection, it is one of the richest cave ecosystems regarding the number of species. It is commonly known as the ''cave forgotten by time''
  • When the Earths climate changed 5.5 million years ago, the area went from tropical to temperate so the only animals that survived are the ones that are able to live in warm caves underground. Such animals are the Arachnids, Crustaceas, Myriapodias and Insectas.

Physical Factors

  • The Movile cave is very dark because it is underground and recieves very little sunlight.
  • The Movile cave is very hot because only 7-10% of the air inside is oxygen and the carbon dioxide in the air is about 2-3.5%.
  • The Movile cave is just under the Dead Sea so the water is salty.
  • Water in the Movile cave is sea water
  • The cave is very different from the outer atmosphere. The also contains methane and ammonia.
  • The pH level of the water is 8.
  • There are minerals like Calcite and Aragonite.

Interrelationship in Ecosystem

  1. Predator-prey relationship- The Ostrecode and the Agraecina Cristiana
  2. Parasitism-Predator and prey

3.Mutualism- The Mollusk eats the algae. When the mollusk urinates, it helps the algae to grow
