Overview:

The African Savanah covers a large part of Africa. It is a thornbush savanna, which has many different species of plants such as acacia Senegal, candelabra tree, jackalberry tree, umbrella thorn acacia, whistling thorn, Bermuda grass, baobabs, and elephant grass. There are also animals such as lions, African wildcats, klipspringer, steenbok, Burchell's zebra, African Savanna monitor, and puff adders.

        Producers in the African savannah

                   Jackalberry Tree

It is a largely found mostly in the Africa Savannah. Jackals are fond of the fruits, hence the common names. The fleshy yellow fruit of this tree is a favourite among most animals living there.

Elephant Grass

This grass can grow to about the height of an average elephant. Some animals, such as lions and cheetahs, use it as camoufladge when stalking prey.

Primary Consumer

Giraffe

The giraffe is a long-necked animal. It eats leave from the top branches of trees. When it senses a predator, it will run away using its long legs.

Elephant

Elephants are the largest land animals on Earth. They travel in groups known as herds. The African elehants are larger than the Asian elephants.

Zebra

The zebra lives in herds. The patterns on its body is unique to each zebra. Together in a herd, the zebras confuse the predators with their patterned bodies.

 Secondary consumer

Lion

While the lionesses hunt for food, the lions protect the young cubs of the pride. Then, the lions eat first.

Cheetah

The fastest land animal on earth

Tertiary consumer

          Hyena

The hyena feeds on leftover food eaten by predators

Vulture

The vulture has a bald head to kill the germs on the head with heat

Physical factor

     Light

There is sufficient light in the  African savannah enabling the trees there to grow well

      Air

The air there is not quite good as people living near the African savannah will burn their crops or because of forest fire in the hot weather.

       Temperature

The temperature in the African savannah is cooler in the dry seasons and in the normal period, the temperature is about 68 to 86 degree Fahrenheit.

        Water

The water in the African savannah is quite dirty as there are animals walking across the river and their dirt will be washed

      Salinity

Unable to find.

          pH of the African savannah

The pH level is near zero in the soil of the African savannah

          Mineral salts

Unable to find.

Food Web

Relationships

Predator-prey relationship

The cheetahs prey and feed on the zebra.

Parasitism

Ticks suck the blood out of the elephant. Thus, this benefits the ticks and gives the elephant harm (a loss in blood), which might cause the death of the elephant.

Mutualism

mutualism is a process where two animals help each other and both gain something

The tick on the hippo provides food for the birds, whereas the birds eating the ticks prevent the ticks from 'killing' the hippo.
