Description of ecosystem:Mangrove swamps, to most people, look like muddy, swampy places filled with mosquitoes, snakes and spiders.

Mangroves act as a home for a diverse range of organisms.
These organisms include:

 

 Mangrove swamps are rich habitats full of animals like the snowy egret, white ibis, brown pelican, frigatebirds, cormorants, mangrove cuckoos, herons, manatees, monkeys, turtles, lizards like anoles, red-tailed hawks, eagles, sea turtles, American alligators and crocodiles. The mangrove roots house smaller animals like the mangrove tree crab, spotted mangrove crab, snails, barnacles, oysters, mussels, anemones, and sponges.Many more lives in the mangrove

Classification of Living Organisms

Classify at least eightof the living organisms found in the Mangrove Swamps ecosystem into the categories below:

  2. Primary Consumers
  3. Secondary Consumers
  4. Tertiary Consumers 
  5. Decomposers

 

For each of the living organism, find a picture and write a short description on the organism.

Write down where the plant / animal can be found, what the animal feeds on and how it survives / escapes from being eaten or killed.

 Primary Consumers are Crabs,plantain squirrel and many more. They are found on mudflats and on trees.

 

 

 

Secondary Consumers are Archer Fishes,Manatees and many more. They are found inside the water.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Tertiary Consumers are Water Monitor Lizards,Carnivorous Birds[that eat meat](king fishers  etc.)

 

 

 

Decomposers are Fungi(Mushroom,etc.)
