Symptoms and signs – common in liver diseases

• Skin and eyes looks yellowish (jaundice)
• Abdominal (stomach region) pain and swelling
• Legs and ankles gets swollen
• Skin gets itchy
• Dark urine colour
• Pale stool colour, or bloody or tar-coloured stool
• Chronic fatigue (severe adverse stress)
• Nausea
• Loss of appetite
• Bruised easily

Infections

The common types of liver infections are hepatitis viruses:

• Hepatitis A
• Hepatitis B
• Hepatitis C

Immune system abnormality

This is one of the few autoimmune liver diseases

• Autoimmune hepatitis

Genetics

Genetic liver diseases:

• Hyperoxaluria and oxalosis
• Wilson's disease (in which copper accumulates in tissues )

• ·        Hemochromatosis (an inherited disorder that causes the body to absorb and keep too much iron)
