Overview
Brief description of the ecosystem:
Where can it be found? Level of human activity? etc
Physical Factors
LIGHT
- The deep sea ocean are as black as night. The deep sea is also known as the twilight zone. This is because the only light produced is from a creaturre's body. Therefore, many deep sea fishes have adpted large eyes to capture little lights.
- Other creatures have also developed the ability to produce red light to lure curious prey. Lack of light also causes a barrier to reproduction.
TEMPERATURE
- The difference in the different zones are dramatic. In most parts of the deep sea, the water temperature is more uniform and constant.
- The deep sea temperature usually stays between 2-4 degrees.

Interrelationship in Ecosystem
PREDATOR-PREY
(Japanese scientists have, for the first time, observed the mesopelagic large squid — a relative of the giant squid seen here — flashing light to blind its prey before attack.)
PARISITISM
(This associations are part of a broad continuum ranging from free-living organisms that depend on others for food, to two organisms that will not survive unless they are always together)
MUTUALISM
(When the anemone's larvae were offered shallow versus deep water individuals of the same species of snail, they always selected a deep water individuals.)
