Meaning / Definition

In this section, include a brief description of the disorder or disease. You may include picture(s) or video(s) to illustrate your points.

Anemia is a blood disorder. There are many types of anemia but the most common one is lack of iron in a human body which can result to a condition in which the blood does not contain enough healthy red blood cells. The main function of red blood cells is to carry oxygen to the body tissues but due to iron deficiency this is not possible. This will make the human body to feel tired and also cause breathing difficulties. However, Anemia can also be passed on through the family genes and also be a result of poor dieting.

Causes and Effects

In this section, while using a little medical jargon as possible,

1) include a description of the condition(s)  or situation(s) causing the disorder or disease;

Causes of anemia

1) Blood loss is the result of bleeding. There are many types of bleeding. Some bleeding cases are a result of surgery or treatment for certain diseases such as cancer while others can be bleeding in the digestive or urinary tract system in the human body. Heavy menstrual periods can also be the result of anemia for some women.

 2) A poor diet can also be the cause of anemia. The meaning of a poor diet is one that lacks iron, folic acid or vitamin B12 that can prevent the human body from making enough red blood cells. Some examples of food that contain such vitamins or minerals are dairy products.

3)High rate of red blood cells destruction can be a inherited condition or a condition where by a person is not born with it. One example of a inherited condition is the disease called sickle cell anemia which causes defects in the red blood cell causing them to die faster than healthy red blood cells. Another example which is not cause by family genes is enlarged or diseased spleen. Spleen is an organ that remove used red blood cells from the body. Therefore , an enlarged or diseased spleen may remove more red blood cells than normal, causing anemia.

2) include a description of the effect(s), outcome(s) or impact(s) on the patients' lives as a result of having the disorder or disease.

Effects of having Anemia

Anemia can damage organs in your body due to your blood can't get enough oxygen. It can also weaken people who have cancer and this can make their treatment not work. Anemia can cause many health problems, people who are suffering from kidney disease are more likely to have heart problems. Too little fluid intake can be life threatening if a severe loss of fluid occur.

You may include picture(s) or video(s) to illustrate your points.

Signs and Symptoms

In this section, while using a little medical jargon as possible, include a description of the signs and symptoms exhibited by people having the disorder or disease. You may include picture(s) or video(s) to illustrate your points.

The most common symptom of anemia is fatigue (feeling tired or weak). If you have anemia, you may find it hard to find the energy to do normal activities.

There are also others signs and symptoms of anemia such as:

1)Shortness of breath

2)Dizziness

3)Headache

4)Coldness in the hands and feet

5)Pale skin

6)Chest pain

Prevention and Treatment

In this section, while using a little medical jargon as possible,

1) include a description of the steps to prevent getting the disorder or disease (if it cannot be prevented, do explain why);

First step: Eating nutritious foods to get a diet which is rich in iron can help prevent anemia. Some examples of such foods are:

-Red meat such as as lean beef

-Leafy vegetables such spinach or lettuce

Second step : The daily diet plan must also contain food that is high in vitamin C. Vitamin C helps the body to absorb iron better. The recommended daily dose of Vitamin C is 250 mg. Some examples of such foods are :

-Peppers

-Broccoli

-Fruits such as papaya, mango and kiwi .

Third step: Besides the dietary plan, iron can also be obtained through cooking using the proper cookware. Iron pots and pan can cause small amount of iron to be absorb by the food as it cooks. This is a ideal method of getting a healthy dose of iron for people who do not like to eat red meat.

Fourth step: People who are on medication have to check with a doctor that their medication will not cause them to be anemic. This is because certain medication can cause some people to be at a risk of getting anemia. Some examples of such medications are:

-Penicillin

-Dapsone

-Levofloxacin

Fifth step: It is important to get treatment for underlying condition beside eating well and eating supplements. One example of such condition that can lead to anemia is:

-Menorrhagia which refers to heavy bleeding that last more than 7 days or excessive menstrual bleeding. It is important to see a doctor in such condition is present.

2) include a description of the treatment of the disorder or disease (if it cannot be treated, do explain why) or the steps to lessen its signs or symptoms.

In the cases of severe anemia a medical procedure maybe recommend by the doctor. Examples of such procedures are:

-Blood transfusion is a safe , common procedure in which blood is given to the patient through an intravenous (IV) line in one of the patient blood vessel. A matching blood between the donated blood and the patient's blood is required for a transfusion.

-Blood and marrow stem cell transplant is almost the same like a blood transfusion. This procedure replaces faulty stem cells with healthy ones from another person. This donated stem cells are place in a vein inside the patient's chest through a tube and ones they are in the body they will begin to make new blood cells in the bone marrow.

- In the cases of serious or life-threatening bleeding that causes anemia, surgery may be required. One example of such condition is the removal of an enlarged or disease spleen which is causing more loss of red blood cells than normal.

Link to Other Illnesses or Diseases

In this section, while using a little medical jargon as possible, include a description of the illness(es) or disease(s) that may occur as a result of having this disorder or disease.

You may include picture(s) or video(s) to illustrate your points.

1)Vitamin deficiency anemias. Your body needs vitamin B-12 to produce sufficient numbers of  healthy red blood cells, diet lacking can cause decreased red blood cell production. Some people may eat enough B-12, but theirs bodies can't able to process the vitamin. This can lead to deficiency anemia.

2)Anemia of chronic disease. Some chronic disease such as cancer , HIV , rheumatoid arthritis. Chronic inflammatory diseases can produce of red blood cells, resulting in chronic anemia. Kidney failure can cause anemia.

Well done! A lot of pictures too!! Almost a complete job.

However, the text can be further improvised. That is, you may coloured some of the keywords or change the font of the text.

Also, you need to include the sources from where you obtain the information, as well as the pictures, under the section "References".
