Overview
The ocean brims with life...As time goes by, more and more fishes, turtles and other rare animals disappears just because we humans don't understand them and their needs of spaces and food...
Physical Factors
- Light:the pelagic region is divided into three zones. The top zone is the euphotic or sunlit zone. This is the ocean zone that sunlight penetrates. Because this zone gets sunlight, photosynthesis can occur and plants can grow here. The sunlit zone goes down to about 660 feet. The next zone is the dysphotic or twilight zone. Some sunlight reaches this zone, but not enough for photosynthesis to occur. The dysphotic zone goes down to about 3,300 feet. The last zone is the aphotic or midnight zone. No sunlight reaches this zone and it can reach depths of close to 20,000 feet. Sometimes people divide the midnight zone into two zones: the aphotic zone and the abyss.
Water: the oceans are huge. About 70 percent of the planet is covered in ocean and the average depth of the ocean is several thousand feet (about 1,000 meters).Ninety-eight percent of the water on the planet is in the oceans and therefore is unusable for drinking because of the salt
Temperature:if you want to know about the temperature of the ocean, you need to know about the ocean first but to cut a long story short here it is, The Argos and BIOS program have both published results that confirm that the ocean is warming. Surface water temperatures obviously change from season to season and year to year, but the whole ocean has warmed about 0.1 degree Fahrenheit (0.055 degree Celsius) in the past 30-50 years. This may not seem like much of a temperature change, but it is significant. Think about a pot of water heating on a stove. A small pot of water will heat quickly, while a large pot of water atthe same heat settingwill heat very slowly. This is due to a difference in heat capacity. The ocean has an enormous heat capacity because of its large size. So it is like an enormous pot of water, and it takes a great amount of heat to warm the ocean. The fact that the ocean has warmed significantly in 30 to 50 years is remarkable and concerning.Air:Oxygen makes up 34.3% of gases dissolved in water.By mass, saewater has 85.84% oxygen...
Classification of Living Organisms

Interrelationship in Ecosystem
- Many parasites exist in the ocean. Often the large mammals, like whales, can have intestinal worms living in them. Other parasites include isopods, which are ectoparasites (they live on the outside of their host).
Parasitism happens when one living thing lives off of another living thing, causing that other living thing harm. Parasitism is not when one organism kills another and then eats it. That is just an example of predator/prey. Sometimes organisms die because of parasites, but something is only a parasite if it gets its food from something that is still alive
